About Vet Vitals
Your Success is Our Passion
Building a practice that meets you where you are.
“Living with chronic nerve pain led me to reevaluate my practice and reshape it into a new way of bringing my experience and passion as a veterinarian to the animals and people I serve. Let me help you do the same.”

Dr. Amanda Cairncross is a veterinarian and dedicated mentor with over 12 years of clinical experience. She graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 and has spent her career developing practical knowledge, resilience, and tools to help veterinarians thrive—both professionally and personally.
Amanda offers one-on-one mentoring for early-career veterinarians and those transitioning back into practice through individualized 50-minute sessions. Her mentoring provides real-world support, including clinical case discussions, strengthening decision-making confidence, practical tools for daily practice, and guidance for navigating the challenges of entering or returning to the veterinary profession. Her approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each mentee’s goals and needs.
Having personally lived and practiced with chronic nerve pain, Amanda brings a unique and deeply empathetic perspective to her mentoring. She is especially passionate about supporting veterinarians managing chronic illness or pain while maintaining fulfilling, sustainable careers. She understands firsthand the physical and emotional demands of veterinary medicine and helps mentees develop strategies to protect their well-being while continuing to grow in their profession.
Amanda’s greatest passion is mentoring veterinarians as they enter the field and supporting those returning to practice after setbacks or chronic illness. Through the lessons, tools, and insights she has gained over more than a decade in practice, she aims to help the next generation of veterinarians feel supported, confident, and less alone as they build their careers.
Amanda holds a Compassion Fatigue Management Certification from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work and College of Veterinary Medicine. She also completed the Modern Veterinary Mentorship Course through VIN (Veterinary Information Network).
In her downtime, Amanda enjoys reading, traveling with her husband Kane, and learning about different cultures. She also loves spending time with her two rescue dogs and her blue-crowned conure.
Why work with me
Veterinary medicine is deeply rewarding—but it can also be demanding, complex, and at times isolating. With over 12 years of clinical experience, I offer mentorship grounded in real-world practice, practical tools, and compassionate support.
I understand the pressures veterinarians face because I’ve lived them. Practicing while managing chronic nerve pain reshaped how I approach both medicine and mentorship, giving me a deeper appreciation for creating sustainable, fulfilling careers.
Our work together focuses on strengthening clinical confidence, navigating challenging cases, and developing strategies that support both professional growth and personal well-being. My goal is simple: to help you feel more capable, supported, and confident as you build a veterinary practice that truly fits you.
